Born in Taiwan (Republic of China), I moved to the U.S. at the age of 13 and resided in Southern California with my family. I quickly acquainted and settled to the amicable weather, diverse culture, and ethnic cuisines of this beautiful Golden State. I pursued education, graduated from college, and climbed the corporate ladder. One day, I apprehended that the wealth and status I worked hard for was slowly draining my health and relationships with loved ones. It was time for a shift in focus, a calling for a lifestyle change. This epiphany converted to motivation, and I was compelled to explore Yoga. The impulse to find that inner peace and balance turned to passion; to praise and teach Yoga.
Prior to the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, I have practiced Yoga on and off for about 10 years as it has been the best stress relieving exercise for me to date. Now, I see Yoga as part of my life that aligns the body and mind. Through Yoga, I’ve learned to take on life’s challenges with grace and let go of the negativities that don’t serve me. As a believer in connectedness, things happen for a reason and everyone is a part of something larger. In my limited time on earth, I wish to leave a virtual footprint by contributing to the virtue of kindness to this world. My approach is to start small by being sensitive to people, devoting time and concern for living beings, and appreciating every ounce of goodness I see and receive in this bounded journey. My motto is to live life with love, compassion, and gratitude.
My favorite styles of Yoga are Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin, and I create my sequences based on these three methods. My focus is on proper alignment instead of rushing through poses. The great emphasis is to respect our body and to concede that self-care is equally important as considering for others. My agenda for each class is to help the students feel refreshed, relaxed, and balanced after they step off the mat. I’m registered with Yoga Alliance and currently teaching Yoga on a part-time basis (see Where I Teach for information on my classes). Besides teaching Yoga, I help small businesses manage their Finance and Accounting operations. When I’m not teaching Yoga or helping clients, I love spending time with my husband and our two cats.
